I was recently asked by the jewelry and textile designer Andrea Bocchio to do an advertisement illustration for her new work. If you haven’t clicked the link above yet, you’ll be able to see just how fantastic these accessories are. For the most part, they combine vibrantly colored traditional crochets and knits with softer, earth-toned chains, beads and rings. But that may be limiting, as her entire collection is both identifiable as Andrea Bocchio yet varied enough to entice more than just one audience.
I really really love how her jewelry is universal — it breaks down culturally specific ideas by fusing them with traditional craftsmanship and by blurring the line between Western and non-Western design. We kept this particularly beautiful quality in mind for this illustration.
P.S. The dress is by Victoria Beckham, and the shoes are from my head.
